MUD Makeup classes are held weeknights at 6pm.

Have you always loved makeup but are looking to take your skills to the next level? At Avenue Five Institute’s part-time evening Makeup program, students learn how to how to improve their make-up skill in a hands-on, inspiring, supportive environment. Classes are held Monday- Thursday nights and blend lectures and demonstrations with lab work and assignments, to take your makeup knowledge to the next level. Using techniques and products developed by expert make-up artists, our dedicated, trained instructors draw upon years of experience in a diverse range of fields to help you achieve your personal goals.

The products and techniques we teach were developed by Make-Up Designory (MUD). MUD was founded in 1997 in North Hollywood, California, bringing quality education and products to the make-up artist community. Today, MUD has 2 corporate campuses in Los Angeles and New York. At Avenue Five Institute, we teach these same advanced techniques to men and women across Austin, so you can be certain that the application skills you acquire are consistent with the today’s modern standards.

Programs and Courses

Avenue Five Institute’s 15-week MUD curricula is delivered Monday-Thursday evenings and include 5 separate courses totaling 210-hours:

Beauty Essentials- 6 weeks (includes MUD Beauty Essentials Kit – $1299.00 msrp)

This course is designed as an introduction to beauty make-up. In this course you will start by learning facial analysis, base matching and application, correction, contours, highlights, as well as a focus on eyes and lips. The course finishes with complete make-up applications ranging from one hundred percent corrective to natural make-up.

Airbrush – 2.5 weeks (includes MUD Airbrush II Kit – $599.00 msrp)

The airbrush course is a must-have that allows students to build on their traditional make-up skills. In this course we de-mystify the tool and show how to properly care and maintain it. In addition, we teach the techniques to do beautiful, flawless beauty make-up. .

Bridal Make-up – 1.5 weeks (includes MUD Bridal Kit – $349.00 msrp)

With a focus on special events and weddings, the Bridal Make-up Artistry Course takes the student from consultation to the creation of a bride’s perfect look. Every successful wedding make-up application starts with a clear plan for both the bride and family, and this is where the bridal course starts.

Studio Make-up – 2.5 weeks (includes MUD Studio Kit – $349.00 msrp)

In this course, students will learn how to create make-ups that are typically only found in fashion or editorial by creating imagery that stands out from the rest. Students will also develop his or her eye for make-up and learn what to look out for in his or her own pictures.

High Fashion Make-up Trends – 2.5 weeks (includes MUD High Fashion Kit – $349.00 msrp)

With the dramatic increase of new technology in video production and photography, applying make-up that looks great on camera and broadcast require unique considerations. In this course, students learn to apply camera ready make-ups, whether the look is a natural or full glamour look.
