What makes a cosmetology school in Austin, or anywhere else in the world, a great place to advance your artistic and professional abilities? In order to uncover just that, MODERN SALON Media joined forces with the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) to create an annual Excellence in Education campaign. The goal is to create and share “examples of great salon education experiences and beauty career development happening across the country.”

In October, Modern Salon Publisher Steve Reiss announced this year’s honorees at the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) Annual Convention in Las Vegas.

We have chosen a select few that we believe show leadership and best practices that other schools can use to learn and grow.” – MODERN SALON Editorial Director Michele Musgrove

Avenue Five Institute received recognition in four out of eight categories. We placed in the top two for:

Technology Top Honoree 2017
Facilities Top Honoree 2017

Additionally, we received recognition for:

Community Involvement National Honoree 2017

How Are Honorees Selected?

To be considered as honorees, eligible schools must meet or exceed specific criteria outlined for each category. The eight categories are:

Community Involvement
Facilities
Marketing Innovation
Nails
The Next Level: Alumni Programs
Placement
School Culture
Technology

Additionally, school size plays a role. Cosmetology schools enter as a multi-unit chain school or single location site. There are two top honorees for each category, including one chain school and one individual school.
