How Long Does It Take to Become a Barber in Texas?

It requires around 1,000 hours of training to become a licensed barber in Texas.  This means that if  you put in 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, it would take you a little over 7 months to earn 1,000 hours. Not everyone can train full time, perhaps you have kids or another job. That’s why for the average person it takes closer to a year to complete training before taking the state licensing exam. Our full-time barber career training program is about 9 months long but can be completed at a different pace depending on your schedule and availability.

What’s Included in 1,000 Hours of Barber Training?

Now that you know how long it takes to become a barber in Texas, you might be wondering… what in the world will I be doing over the course of 1,000 hours? It sounds like a long time but there is a lot to learn, and rest assured, you won’t be doing the same thing the entire time. Instead, there are many things you’ll be doing and learning, including classroom curriculum and hands-on training working in a salon environment.
