Let’s face it. Some people will try anything to look more beautiful. Even if it involves spending half their disposable income on products that are nothing short of ridiculous.
Hopefully, you’re savvy enough to avoid the following newfangled skincare offerings. But bear in mind that millions of consumers have bought these products that are not only questionable. They’re downright ridiculous makeup inventions!
Voya Lazy Day Soak, $32, available at Voya
Voya Lazy Day Seaweed Bath seems like a great way to unwind in the tub after a long shift – until you read the ingredients printed on the box!
Made from real dehydrated seaweed, this $32 product carries a disclaimer that tiny crustaceans may be present. Yikes! That means you may have to share your bath water with little fish and plankton. Really, who would take the bait on this treatment?
Crazy Girl Wanna Be Naked Shave Creme, $13.50, available at Ricky’s
The name is somewhat appropriate because this below-the-waist “intimate” shaving cream. It’s infused with the aroma of tropical fern and laced with pheromones, those scents that lure sexual mates.
Crazy Girl says it’s formulated with jojoba to provide an ultra smooth moisturizing experience. But if you’re already naked, and you still need pheromones to close the deal, maybe shaving cream is not your biggest problem.
Fun Betty Color Kit, $14.99, available at Betty Beauty
The question in this case is not, “Why didn’t anyone think of this before?” but rather, “Why did anyone think of this now?” Betty Beauty offers up some pretty colorful hair dye for your pubic hair. Fun Betty is the pink dye, Malibu Betty is aquamarine, and Love Betty is fire-engine red. They claim to be specially formulated to be irritation-free and chock full of rich conditioners. Now you can have a lower dye job to match your mood, or any holiday from Valentine’s Day to Halloween. The best part? Fun Betty is never tested on animals – phew!
Cle de Peau “La Creme” Anti-Aging Moisturizer, $16,000, available at Clé de Peau Beauté
At $16,000 for a 50-gram jar, this product is beyond ridiculous. It’s billed as a “high-performance” nighttime cream with exceptional anti-aging properties. It is supposed to improve your skin’s texture and radiance. The packaging is partly to blame, as each container is handcrafted out of crystal layers and platinum rungs. If not one of the most ridiculous makeup inventions, La Creme is definitely the most ridiculously priced. Spoiler Alert: NO COUPONS.
Face Up Roller facial massage tool, $4.99, available at Amazon
Facial massage is the best way to stimulate collagen for a more youthful glow, but not with this contraption. This is a miniature version of the knobby body rollers that you run up and down your back and shoulders for an invigorating massage. Except your face has too many delicate areas for a knobby roller… Except it irritates your skin… Except you can do a much more effective job with your fingertips, for free.
Omuni Electric Lifter nose reshaping apparatus, $79, available on eBay
No discussion of the most ridiculous makeup inventions is complete without mentioning the bizarre Nose Shaper.
This is a longstanding beauty product in Asian countries used to reshape one’s nose to look more Caucasian. First of all, it is no more effective in bobbing your nose than a Breathe Right nasal strip. And you can easily reshape your nose with contour makeup and shading. This new version is battery powered and clamps right onto your schnoz…but what if you have to sneeze?
