The First Step to Honor Your Calling: Uncover your talents and gifts
Your inborn talents and gifts fuel your true calling. For instance, creative people make great hairstylists and makeup artists, while natural born healers make great massage therapists.
Take the time to write down your natural-born gifts and it might help you uncover your true calling. If you’re hard on yourself and don’t like to give yourself compliments, ask someone who knows you well (significant other, best friend, parent) what they think your natural gifts and talents are. This may help open your eyes to possibilities you never saw before.
How to Find Your True Calling: 6 questions to ask yourself
- What are you naturally good at?
- What activities make you the happiest when you are doing them?
- If you could do anything in the world every day of the week, what would it be?
- If you won the lottery tomorrow, what are some things you still wouldn’t stop doing?
- What keeps showing up in your mind?
- Is there anything you feel strongly in your heart?
Once you have the answer to these questions, don’t resist the outcome. Avoid sabotaging yourself. Think about it: you are one of the lucky ones! You’re one (or several) step closer on finding your purpose.
What If I Still Don’t Know My Calling?
Take some time to sit still in a quiet place. To start, silence your mind of all thoughts. Take deep breaths, long inhales and long exhales, while imagining yourself sweeping all thoughts away as if there’s a broom brushing out your brain.
Then, only when you are ready, ask yourself where you want to be – what do you see yourself doing? What would make you feel complete and truly happy?
With all of these thoughts fresh on your mind, write them down on a piece of paper. You might surprise yourself, but more than likely, you’ve known the answers all along they just get lost in the noisy world we live in.
No luck yet? Keep trying, the answer is there and it will arrive at some point. We all have a purpose to fulfill. Listen to what the universe is telling you and be open to the possibilities.
