Hailing from Austin herself, Maya is ready to dive into the world of beauty and wellness, bringing her passion for making people feel fantastic to our community.
An Austin Native’s Path to Esthetics
Maya’s journey to Avenue Five Institute is truly unique! Growing up right here in Austin, she attended James Bowie High School. Her initial introduction to Avenue Five Institute came through an unexpected academic assignment. “I found it doing my economics project on budgeting,” Maya shared, highlighting how a school project led her to discover a potential future. This sparked an interest that blossomed into enrollment. Maya was inspired by our campus vibe and culture, product and brand diversity, and positive online reviews, all contributing to her decision to begin her professional journey with us. Her experience meeting with our admissions and financial aid teams was a positive one, and during orientation, she particularly enjoyed “meeting new people,” embracing the collaborative spirit of Avenue Five Institute culture.
Passion for Beauty and Professional Aspirations
When it comes to her chosen path, Maya’s motivation is clear and heartfelt. “I love the beauty industry,” she expressed, underscoring her natural affinity for the field. She elaborated on this, sharing, “Because I love to make people feel beautiful and confident.” This dedication to client well-being is a wonderful foundation for an aspiring esthetician. Maya is already enthusiastic about the hands-on aspect of her future career, stating that she is most excited about “working on my own clients” once her training progresses. She is well-versed in popular skincare, mentioning brands like Glow Recipe, Rhode, Ordinary, and Rare Beauty. She appreciates them because “their brands present themselves very nicely and they work best for my skin,” showing a discerning eye for quality and presentation. In her free time, this Austin native enjoys listening to music and dancing on her own and in a studio, embracing the city’s vibrant energy.

Looking ahead, Maya has clear goals for her impact on the beauty and wellness industry. After completing her professional Avenue Five Institute training, “I’m hoping to eventually be a business owner,” she shared, envisioning a future where she can lead her own venture. More than just business, her client-centric vision is strong. She hopes to create an environment “for everyone to leave satisfied and excited for the next time they do come, also a place where they feel comfortable and safe.” This desire to foster both satisfaction and a sense of security for her clients truly embodies the spirit we encourage in all our students.
