For 2014’s summer-spring fashion season, for example which trends in hair and makeup should you try out? Whether you’re preparing for the office, dressing up for a hot date or a night out with the girls, there are plenty of runway-inspired trends that you can use to change up your look.

Must-Follow Hair and Makeup Trends for 2014

If you’re looking forward to changing your look, here are some spring-summer fashion trends that you can use as inspiration:

  • Straighten those locks.

Hair trends come and go and the stick-straight look seems to be back with a vengeance. Fashion houses Chloe, Ralph Lauren, Miu Miu, Donna Karan, Anthony Vaccrello, Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Prabal Gurung had models wearing super straight hair close to the scalp. To vary the look, you can combine the use of a straightening iron with volumized roots.

  • A dishevelled updo is the way to go.

If you feel like wearing your hair up, do it in such a way that the updo has a dishevelled twist to it. Check out the looks sported by models from the recent fashion shows of Michael Kors, Giambattista Valli and Tom Ford to have an idea about how to sport the look.

  • Ditch bad hair days with headbands.

Another hairstyle trend that you should definitely try especially if you’re having a particularly bad hair day is wearing a wide black jersey headband. Seen in the runway shows of Vera Wang, Victoria Beckham, Valentino, Elie Saab and Dolce & Gabbana, this accessory will make you feel like an elegant ballet dancer while incorporating that trendy look at the same time.

  • Feel like a rockstar with black liner!

You can go for the feline eye look or go all out and be like a rockstar with black eyeliner. This is a makeup trend that never goes out of style and was recently seen sported by models at Stella McCartney, Versace, Erdem, Missoni, Rodarte and Jonathan Saunders runway shows.

  • Be a bronzed Greek goddess.

Gold leaf hair accessories, bronzers, tanned skin and golden brows have become the highlights of the recent spring-summer runway shows. You can borrow this trend by incorporating a gold component in your look.

  • Matte-ify your lips.

Matte red lipstick or other dark shades but in a similar matte finish are a hot trend in the runway as well. Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra, Rag & Bone and Antonio Berardi are some of the designers who went for this bright colored, matte lip trend – and you can easily follow suit.

  • Use sheer eye shadow.

The heat of the summer does not really lend itself to wearing eye makeup, but the sheer shadow trend might just change all that. Sheer pastel hues applied on the lids of the eye were worn by models of Rochas, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Giambatista Valli and Ruffian. Blue is a must-try shade, as well as other pastel colors.

  • Nail art is still in.

Finally, decorate those nails with an attitude by trying out the still-hot trend of nail art. You can use any design, color or pattern that you want to decorate your fingernails and toenails.

Which among these hair and makeup trends would you like to try out this spring summer- fashion season?
