As a busy Austin-based massage school, we have the pleasure of working with so many talented students on the road to success. Our students inspire us every single day. We strive to recognize their hard work and talent any way we can, and the ‘Google 5 Star Reward’ gives us a chance to do that.
This month at Avenue Five Beauty School, we proudly place the spotlight on two of our Austin massage school students, Jessica Trujillo and Valerie. Not only are these two superstar students and cousins, but they are also winners of the Google 5 Star Award.
What does it take to receive the Google 5 Star Award?
To be considered for this award, students must earn 5 or more 5 star Google+ reviews during their internship. Sound easy? Think again! 5 star reviews derive out of hard work, and the desire to set aside personal needs to put clients first. “What I love the most about being a massage therapist is the amount of trust my clients give over to me… pampering others is what I enjoy,” Valerie writes.
Internships last around 2 months, giving students enough time to impress clients and earn reviews. Nothing was going to stop Jessica from going after the 5-Star Award. Jessica shares, “What motivates me is the idea that I could miss out on something amazing. If I think there’s a chance that something could make me happy or successful I go for it!”

Jessica Trujillo is a graduate of Avenue Five Beauty School’s Massage Therapy 750-hour Program. During her massage therapy internship, Jessica received a lot of positive feedback, hence how she secured the Google 5 Star Award.
Jessica’s future includes working at a spa, but her vision is greater than just that. She hopes to work with different organizations to help people who otherwise couldn’t afford the benefits of massage therapy. “What excites me most about my future career is that I can go anywhere with it. People all over the world can benefit from therapeutic touch,” she shares.
Before joining our extended family at Avenue Five Institute, Jessica sold everything she owned to travel the world for a year. “When I’m not at school or work I enjoy traveling. I like to experience different cultures and try new things. I’m also very adventurous and a bit of an adrenaline junkie.” She adds, “My advice to anyone considering a career in massage is to go for it! It’s such a rewarding field with so many different options in the type of work you’d like to do.”

Valerie and Jessica are cousins, and according to Valerie, “Jessica is my favorite person!” We love the camaraderie around here!
Valerie is another successful graduate of Avenue Five Institute’s Massage Therapy program. We are so pleased to present her with the Google 5 Star Award, which she earned while completing her internship. This talented massage therapist has a great sense of humor and knows how to make her clients feel 100% comfortable under her caring touch. After all, “Anyone who knows me knows I think farts are THE FUNNIEST sound ever. I laugh every time. If I’m not laughing something is wrong with me,” says Valerie.
Valerie plans to continue her career in massage therapy, “For now you’ll find me in a spa. Pampering others is what I enjoy.” It’s Valerie’s clients that keep her going; in her own words, “It’s fulfilling to know they’re grateful for the time and energy I put into a session. The happiness they feel is enough to keep me on this path.”
Valerie’s favorite thing about being a massage therapist? “The amount of trust my clients give over to me. It’s such a privilege to know I’m trusted with their mind, body and time.”
We can’t wait to see all the great things these women accomplish in the future, and we are so proud their journey in massage therapy started right here at our Austin massage therapy school, Avenue Five Institute.
