New York Fashion Week Update

Katie Holmes looked gorgeous in a red dress at the Marchesa fashion show. Lopita Nyong’o wore an uber chic lilac dress at the Calvin Klein Collection fashion show. She was joined by Anna Wintour and Noami Watts in the front seat. Kendall Jenner wore a sheer top at the Marc Jacobs show. These were just some of the highlights from the 2014 NYC Fashion Week.

Every year, the event seems to go by in a blurry haze – simply because there are so many fashion events packed on into a single week. But the results are fabulously worth it! First, let’s have a review of what went on during the first few days of the NYC Fashion Week. The fab venues for the fashion shows included the Pavilion, Park Avenue, the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, 547 West 26th Street and many others.

The list of designers and fashion houses included Tadashi Shoji, Zimmerman, Nautica, Nicole Miller, Lacoste, Herve Leger by max Azria, Monique Lhuillier, Diane von Furstenberg, Meskita, Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Reem Acra, Zac Posen, Donna Karan New York, MM6
Maison Martin Margiela, Wendy Nichol, Michael Kors, Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and J. Mendel. The slew of event started from February 6 to 13 and the shows were a visual delight. Whether you’re a celebrity looking for a dress to wear at a red carpet event or a fashionista who can’t wait to get your hands on one of the designer digs that the fashion models wore, the 2014 NYC Fashion Week was definitely the place to be.

What did the Clothes Look Like at the 2014 NYC Fashion Week? Let’s take a look at some of the top looks from the most popular designers during the NYC Fashion Week. Harper’s Bazaar described his collection as Gothic-Victorian and sporty, a combination which somehow works. The Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 collection included ensembles that had mixed lacy Victorian blouses and jackets with heavy embroidery. They were combined with what looked like upgraded board shorts, as well as floral sneakers. His looks are definitely something that true blue fashionistas would wear, and they’re a pleasure to look at.

For the Calvin Klein Spring Collection, the head designer is Francisco Costa. His casual clothes were exactly that: casual, but elegant. The formal clothes included a white number with monotone fringes and frayed edges, which looked like they would feel so luxurious to the touch. For the Ralph Laurent Spring 2014 collection, the theme was black and white. My personal favorite – which could be yours, too – is a checked mini with a conservative neckline and long sleeves. It looks delightful on the runway and might just be surprisingly comfortable to wear.

The highlight of the show was the red strapless column gown with a built-in cape that Lopita Nyong’o wore to the Golden Globe Awards. Next comes the Marchesa Spring 2014 collection. Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig combined Gothic with Victorian design influences and the result are ultra-feminine frocks with embroidery, embellishments and all things that most women love. For the Proenza Schouler Spring 2014 collection, designers Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez were the heroes who put together a lovely collection of dresses that jetsetting and
orking women can actually wear.

With what you have seen from the 2014 NYC Fashion Week, which looks or collections were your favorite?
