Looking Forward to the Fall Season? Skin Care Tips to Remember

If you’re making the most out of the remaining time that is left of the summer season, it means that you have to change up your skincare routine. As the warm nights of the summer switch to something cooler, it means that the fall season is about to arrive. While you are in the process of putting back those swimsuits, cool shirts and summer dresses back in storage, you should think about switching your skin care products as well. Despite the fact that your skin will mostly be covered by jeans and long-sleeved sweaters for the cooler season, it does not mean that you can skip your regular skin care routine. In fact, the decrease in temperature will dry up your skin so you need to take care of it even more.

Top 5 Fall Skin Care Tips to Remember

No matter what season of the year it is, remember that it is important to have a regular skin care regimen. This is especially true if you are dealing with problems like breakouts, or dry skin which is bound to happen during fall and winter. Here are the top five fall skin care tips to keep in mind:

  1. Switch your skincare products to ones more suited for the weather.

Let’s start with your body cleanser. Whether you’re using a body wash, a shower gel or a soap, make sure that the formula would not dry out your skin. Fruity shower gels may feel great during the summer but a hydrating formula is better once the fall season arrives. You might even want to skip the liquid formula and switch to a cream-based product so that your skin will be extra-moisturized. If your body needs exfoliating, look for an oil-based scrub. Not only will your skin be exfoliated, but the oil content of the product will hydrate your dry skin as well.

When it comes to the skin on your face, it’s also a good idea to switch products once the fall season arrives. Don’t skip the facial masks or rejuvenating scrubs – but make sure to moisturize after because these procedures tend to dry up the skin more.

  1. Don’t skip the moisturizer.

Again, dry skin is your number one enemy during the colder months of the year so it pays to not skip on moisturizing. Apply hydrating lotions after gently wiping your skin dry from the bath to seal in the moisture. Body butters are also a good option to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.

  1. Don’t skip the sunscreen, either.

Even if the sun is not at its brightest during the fall and winter season, you should not skip on applying sunscreen – especially to your face. Moisturizers or makeup bases with at least an SPF 15 rating should do the trick.

  1. Take good care of your feet.

Your feet and nails might be hidden under socks and boots but it does not mean that you should neglect them. Use a foot scrub in the shower to keep your heels soft. At night, you can also slather your entire feet with petroleum jelly or hydrating lotion – and wear thick socks overnight. In the morning, you won’t believe how soft and pretty your feet will be.

  1. Always bring a hand cream.

Finally, your hands will always be exposed to the elements even when you’re wearing long-sleeved clothes. Invest in a good hand cream and bring it anywhere with you. This way, you can apply a generous amount even when outside to keep your hands soft and moisturized. Choose one in your favorite scent to make yourself smell good all day long.
