Summer Preparation Tips from Head to Toe

Summer is that time of the year when you would start putting back your winter clothes in storage. As more of your skin gets revealed in cooler outfits, you need to make sure that your body is summer-ready. During the wintertime when your body is always covered in thick layers of clothes, you might not have even bothered to shave your legs. But now that the hotter days are here, you need to make sure that those gams are silky-smooth, and that all the other parts of your body can be bared confidently especially if you are hitting the beach!

Head-to-Toe Preparation Tips for Summer

During the summertime, you are bound to start wearing skin-baring outfits, so it is best to make sure that you are prepared from head to toe. Take a look at the following tips on how you can do just that:

  • For the face.

The safest way to get a summer tan is not to lie under a tanning bed, but to simply use sunless tanners. You can even fake having just come from a tropical vacation somewhere exotic by applying the sunless tanner on your face. Or, you can use a facial moisturizer which has a golden or bronze tint to it, to instantly give you that sun-kissed look. When using products like bronzers or self-tanners, remember that the color build-up is gradual so you can simply alternate using it with your regular moisturizer.

  • For your body.

Now comes the quite tedious part: prepping your body to be summer-ready. First, you need to make sure that all unwanted hair is gone. Starting from your legs to your armpits to your bikini line – these should all be shaved or smoothly waxed. Look for a shaver that will not give you razor burn. The ones for men are actually good for women. Also, instead of a shaving cream, a shaving lotion is recommended so that it can help prevent nicks and cuts while also keeping your skin moisturized. If you need to shave and you’re out of shaving lotion, you can use your hair conditioner as a substitute.

After getting rid of all the extra fuzz in your body, make sure that your skin is glowing. The best way to achieve this is through cleansing, exfoliation and moisturizing. Use a loofah or a shower scrub and gently scrub away the dead skin cells. The trick is to rub not too hard, and do it for quite a long time. Use a natural or commercial exfoliant and do it at least twice a week. No matter how much lotion you use on your body, you will still not achieve that summery glow if you have dead skin cells. Afterwards, use as summer-scented lotion to seal in the moisture.

  • For your feet.

Finally, you’ll wear a lot of sandals or even go barefoot on the beach. This means that you need to give your feet some pampering as well. Get a pedicure or give yourself one, and be as bold as you want in your choice of nail polish color – the brighter, the better! Use a foot scrub and file in the shower so that you can smoothen out the skin on your feet. Scrub them a few times per week, and make sure that your pedicure is always flawless.

With these tips, you can make your skin all over ready for the summer.
