In most cultures across the world, a woman’s hair is held in high regard; it is viewed as a sign of beauty. It is for this reason that most women go to a great deal of trouble to ensure that their hair looks absolutely fabulous. Straight hair in particular is very attractive; it screams order and pristine beauty. The reality, however, is that not all women are born with naturally-straight hair but the good news is that there are artificial ways of permanently straightening hair. The following are permanent hair straightening pros and cons that you need to be aware of if you are thinking of going for treatment.
Permanent Hair Straightening Pros
The most notable advantage of permanent hair straightening is that it is safe for the hair. This means that you won’t have to worry too much about your hair falling off or breaking as is the case with quite a number of other hair procedures.
The procedure also improves the smoothness of hair and gives it a silky appearance. Undoubtedly this is one characteristic that quite a number of women yearn for and for good reason. Silky-smooth hair is very attractive and is guaranteed to attract a few stares wherever you go.
Permanent hair straightening is not a procedure that is meant for just a certain category of people. Any woman with a sizeable amount of hair on her head can benefit from it. In fact, it is not just for women alone; men who are in touch with their ‘feminine side’ can also go for it.
A common method of straightening hair involves applying keratin which is a naturally occurring protein; this is referred to as keratin hair straightening treatment. The best thing about this treatment is that it is extremely effective. Also, worth noting is the fact that no gels, sprays etc are used in this process and so you do not have to worry about harsh compounds causing harm to your scalp.
Permanent Hair Straightening Cons
In order to achieve total success with this treatment, you have to get a highly qualified stylist to perform it. To say the least, this is not the kind of treatment that can be performed by just any other home-trained, so-called hair expert. The good news, however, is that there are many well trained individuals who can do a very good job as far as this treatment is concerned.

I’ve got a a friend who has straigtened her hair. But then her hair growth is horrible. The hair grows in a wavy manner from the roots however, the edge remains straight. It ends up giving her a insane look. I wanna straighten my hair but these results are preventing me to. Could you suggest something? And please acknowledge me the structure in Avenue Five Institute. Thanks. 🙂
It sounds like a permanent straightening service was likely what was applied to your friend’s hair. The name “permanent straightening” can be misleading because it only addressed the hair that is visible (not the hair that has not grown out yet). The area called “regrowth” or “roots” will still remain in its natural state as it grows in. Traditionally a client would need to get a retouch straightening service performed on the regrowth area in order to avoid the wavy new growth. Manufacturing specifications should always be followed. There are several product options for permanent straightening services. One of them would be a Global Keratin smoothing treatment, which we offer at Avenue Five Institute. If you are interested in a GK treatment, we would recommend that you come in for a thorough consultation so that we can evaluate your individual needs.
I did it. Totally regret it. At first everything looked great and everyone was admiring my hair. However after a few weeks my hair began to grow out and now my hair is a hot mess. My roots are very curly however the ends that I permed will stay straight until it grows out or as I’m tempted to do cut it off. I can no longer let out my hair because it looks so weird. A friend of mine soaked her hair overnight in apple cider vinegar to get it “out.” I have not tried it because it sounds to harsh. However, if you are planning on doing the straight perm my advice just be aware of what you are getting yourself into. Because once it’s done there is no going back.
