With all of the gadgets we have to use on a daily basis, including smart phones, and computers, our hands are on display now more than ever.

That, combined with a higher standard of beauty means that people – both men and women – who previously weren’t interested in manicures are now considering it a vital part of their care routine.

Manicures Are Addictive

Since manicures are an affordable way to change up your look to catch the eye of another it becomes a necessary part of your routine, and let’s be honest when you get complimented on something new you’ve tried, you tend to gravitate towards it.

Clients will set aside time for a regular manicures because it is a stress free time to relax and enjoy some pleasant conversation, and a nice little massage as well.  A good nail tech – like a good bartender – is not only excellent provider of a desired service, but a trusted confident as well.  They are someone who can make you look and feel your best, and with whom you can trust to divulge all your secrets.

This means job security for good nail technicians.  People like to be pampered, and this nice little treat will keep your clients coming back for more.

It’s a Recession-Proof Career

Even when there is an economic downturn, people are able to afford a la carte services like manicures and pedicures.  In fact, nail technicians are usually in higher demands during these times because people are looking for an indulgence, and to escape from their realities.  Even if the service only lasts for an hour, it’s an hour where the client will be able to feel cared for, and leave feeling more confident in their appearance.

According to the statistics portal, Statisa: “Nail salons generated approximately 8.54 billion U.S. dollars in 2014.”  With such a profitable industry there is job security.  Cosmetics and beauty also tend to be recession-proof industries with nail technicians fairing the best because during an economic downturn everyone seeks a little frivolity and a chance to have time to escape reality.  Even if the actual manicure itself only happens to take an hour, the week or so (and longer if it’s Shellac!) that you have to enjoy your manicure and all the compliments you’ll get means that it is a worthy investment in yourself.  Unlike alcohol, which is an indulgence that is complete almost as soon as it has started, manicures last, and gives others a good impression of you.
