Ace the No-Makeup Makeup Look with these Tips!

Over the years, plenty of makeup trends and technologies have emerged. From the classic techniques of applying makeup to using airbrush as a tool; or from contouring the face ala-Kim Kardashian to what is currently gaining popularity: strobing, something similar to highlighting to make the face appear brighter. But no matter how heavy or light of a makeup user you are, you’d always want to ace the no-makeup makeup look. This is a technique where you will use makeup to make your skin appear flawless and highlight your facial features – but without looking as if you’ve actually put makeup on! Confused? Read on to find out how you can ace the no-makeup makeup look.

How to Have Natural-Looking Makeup

Again, your goal is to use makeup to hide your flaws, while still making your face look dewy and natural. This means that you should avoid makeup which is too cakey, dark or bright. When choosing a foundation, for example, make sure that it is as close to your natural skin tone as possible. Any shade that’s darker or lighter than your actual complexion will not look natural at all. The application should be light, yet still manage to hide your skin imperfections.

Specifically, here are some tips on how you can have natural looking makeup that’s done just right:

  • First, cleanse and moisturize your skin

No matter which time of day it is that you are going out, it is important to use gentle cleanser on the face first before applying any kind of makeup. After cleansing, moisturize the skin. You can use tinted moisturizer which blends well with the tone of your skin, if you like. The moisturizer serves as a makeup base for the other stuff that you will apply on your face later on. If you can, choose a product which has anti-ageing, sun protecting and hydrating properties.

  • Use a concealer

If you have dark circles under your eyes, as well as blemishes from pimple marks or sunspots, use a concealer. This will hide all your skin imperfections, and prepares your face for the next step.

  • Use a powder or a light foundation all over your face

There’s nothing wrong with using powder foundation, although liquid-based foundation is easier to apply. Make sure to apply the liquid foundation lightly, and blend with a brush or sponge to make sure that there are no streaks.

  • Choose a subtle blush shade on the apples of your cheeks

Peachy shades work well for almost any skin tone, as well as other shades which are not too red. A crème blush in a subtle shade works perfectly for a no-makeup look, which you can apply lightly on the apples of your cheeks.
